CJA was launched in 1998 with a one-time contribution from Amnesty International USA, and on-going support from the Judith Stronach Fund for Non-Violent Social Change of the Vanguard Foundation and the United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture. While CJA and AIUSA collaborate on a number of projects, the two organizations are entirely independent.

Morgan Lewis: CJA's Legal Partner
The international law firm, Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP and CJA have developed a special partnership for 2006. Morgan Lewis's Pro Bono Counsel, Amanda Smith, is a member of CJA's Legal Advisory Council. In addition, Morgan Lewis is handling numerous pro bono matters for CJA and is a major financial donor. We are extremely grateful for the professional and financial contributions.

"When States Kill: Latin America, the U.S., and Technologies of Terror"

When States Kill Thanks to the generosity of the University of Texas Press, editors Cecilia Menjívar and Néstor Rodríguez, and numerous contributing authors, CJA is the recipient of all royalties for the book "When States Kill: Latin America, the U.S., and Technologies of Terror". Organized by region, the essays in this book address the topic of state-sponsored terrorism in a variety of ways. The book is an excellent resourse for those looking for a deeper understanding of the abuses at issue in many of CJA's Latin America cases.
